“If you want to try a classic Japanese “Jiro-style ramen””
If you want to try a classic Japanese “Jiro-style ramen” in Shinjuku, this is a great place to start.

This is th...e Kabukicho branch of a rapidly expanding Jiro-style ramen chain. Opened in July 2025, the shop sits right in the heart of Kabukicho, making it an easy stop before or after a night out. The interior features a clean, white-toned space highlighted by a red U-shaped counter. It’s spacious with plenty of seats, and the wide counter makes dining comfortable. This time, I ordered the Large Ramen (375g of noodles) with all toppings maxed out. A towering pile of bean sprouts coated in rich pork fat creates an impressive visual, while the thick, chewy, ultra-wide noodles deliver a satisfying, hearty bite. The non-emulsified soy sauce–based soup isn’t overly salty, with sweet pork fat melting in to create a rich , indulgent finish. A variety of table seasonings and paid toppings are available, making it easy to customize the flavor. A perfect bowl when you’re seriously hungry and craving something bold and filling.

“Beginners welcome!”
I'd been wanting to try it for ages. A ramen with thick, chewy noodles piled high with chashu pork, loaded with garlic and rich, fatty broth. I finally made up my mind to go and snuck in alone. Thinking a place frequented by connoisseurs was still too advanced for someone like me, I visited after s...eeing a friend go here before. I arrived around 11:30 on Sunday, and it wasn't particularly crowded—no line, just walked right in! ● What I ordered today ・Mini Ramen (Less garlic, No veggies, Extra fat) ・Black Oolong Tea ・Spicy Fried Dough Balls I chickened out and went for the mini ramen, worried about the portion size. I skipped the veggies because I was scared of the amount. I was anxious about too much garlic, so I asked for less. In other words, I chickened out on the whole ramen order. lol But honestly, this was perfect for me right now! The noodles were chewy, yet you could still taste the wheat flavor—delicious! Even with less garlic, you could still really feel its presence! Maybe because I asked for extra oil, it was the kind of ramen that just slid down easily. If this were the original shop, I might have gotten scolded. But the handsome guy who took my order was super flexible, so my initial nervousness faded, making it a great first visit. Thanks for the meal.

“Great Jiro-style Ramen in the Heart of Kabukicho”
I stopped by BUTAKIN Shinjuku Kabukicho for lunch and ordered the Mini Ramen (125g). Even though it’s called “Mini,” the bowl came with an impressive amount of toppings and felt very satisfying. The thick, chewy noodles and the slightly sweet, creamy pork broth were delicious and well balanced. The... chashu pork was tender and flavorful, adding great richness to the bowl. The shop provides paper aprons and wet towels, which is a nice touch—especially for solo travelers or female guests who want to enjoy ramen comfortably. If you like rich, Jiro-style ramen, this is a great spot to try in Shinjuku. I’d definitely come back for the “Extra Everything” version next time!

—————————————— BUTAKIN Shinjuku Kabukicho is known for its unique hybrid style that blends rich Iekei ramen with the bold punch of Jiro-style bowls. The deep pork broth, chewy noodles, shredded pork, and back fat create a satisfying bowl that fits perfectly with Kabukicho’s energetic vibe, especially late at night. The bowl I tried featured tender shredded pork and a flavorful, fatty broth. The thick noodles carry the soup beautifully, and the nori adds the classic Iekei touch. It’s hearty, rich, and absolutely addictive. Portions are generous, so first-time visitors may want to start with a smaller noodle portion. The flavor is bold and ideal for nights when you crave something filling. If you love both Iekei and Jiro-style ramen, this spot hits the sweet spot. A great choice for a quick, rich meal in Kabukicho!
