“Unusal ingredients for a satisfying dinner”
It's not so easy to find a restaurant willing to feed you if you decide to look for it beyond 8.30 PM on a Sunday. Still they took me in at 9, warning me that the last order was at 9.30 and by 10 they would be closing down. Fair enough. I was famished, and seeing a mix of different styles in the m...enu (with pictures, quite touristy but thank God for that!), i chose a Hokkaido potato pie (tasty but terribly hot, being served on a scalding cast-iron plate), then a Katsu Curry of huge proportions, big enough to fill my stomach without any other dish and a glass of their proprietary Ginza Lion beer. Finally, more for the curiosity of it than for real hunger, I also ordered a dish of Siberian onion ( gyōja ninniku in Japanese), tempura-style, with a surprising few Sakura flowers tempura on the side. That was the pinnacle, for the rarity of the ingredients (Sakura is only available for a couple of weeks a year!), and the pleasant taste of this wild garlic stem. There were two waiters, both of them could speak some English, which is something remarkable in Japan. Moderately priced, I would go there again to try something else out of their large menu.

“A shop called beer hall”
This shop is located in Tanukikouji street,a beer specialty shop. I heard from a friend that the beer hall has been in open for over 100 years. Being a specialty shop, beer was very tasty. And dishes are tasty too.

“Great stop off during Rugby World Cup weekend!”
Very nice old Germanic style beer hall in Sapporo. It opens earlier than most places in Sapporo, so a good spot to grab an early afternoon ale and some grub. Very helpful and polite staff.

“Reasonable Lunch at Tanukikoji ”
Want to take some break from traditional Japanese meal so drop by and have diced steak with rice set and beef stew here. Steak is soft and stew tastes rich (and have spaghetti in it). Not a fine dining but a good value casual restaurant. Recommend.

“Great rest stop while shopping Tanuki Koji”
I took a beer break while the rest of the group shopped. Great place for a drink and snacks and the menu looked good for other meals too. Nice warm atmosphere. There is no non-smoking section but I lucked out and the smoke wasn't too bad.
