“Late night snack. Was OK, nothing more.”
Got into the hotel (JR Inn) late (after 11:00pm) and needed food. The front desk recommended this place which was hidden at the top of the large centre (can’t recall the name) across the street. Food and beer. Last food order midnight. In that respect it met the brief. Place was pleasant enough, c...ool vibe, decent background music which was background. About three booths (everything in booths) occupied by young locals. Only western food. We both had the Poutine which filled a hole and did nothing more. Staff were pleasant enough. Wasn’t cheap. Wouldn’t recommend it unless you were in the area and needed a solid late night food option.

“Slow service ”
The food was delicious, especially the french fries with cheese on top. Really good ingredients accompagnies tacos, but it's not really filling... But the bad point was that we waited very long for our food. We waited 20 minutes then a waiter came to tell us we couldn't have burgers (didn't understa...nd the reason). So we reordered and then waited another 10 minutes to get our food. And I think the staff was not very welcoming and not very professional (they made a mistake on the bill, and extra 2000y but they didn't feel uncomfortable or even sorry when I told them they might have made a mistake)...

“Big Steak!”
I decided to try Nuts Cafe trip because of the steak. A little unsure after I saw the green globe above an entryway that looked tacked on to the building next to it, I went up stairs that bore the words "If you come in we supply exotic and exciting space to you you can wipe daily noises here such a ...special time get you peaceful as if you 'trip' we always welcome all of [illegible]." Okay... I walked in and there were no other customers at a little past six. I asked for a non-smoking table, but there were none. The seats were comfortable. One of the servers spoke English well and offered to help me with the menu if I could not read it. The menu looked interesting, with "hybrid nachos" and tacos, but I ordered the 300 gram ribeye steak ("aging beef") and was happy to find that there was a "weekday steak hour" from 4-8 p.m. that gave a 10% discount. The steak size goes up to 1,000 grams. The steak came with a choice of 2 of four sides, so I had the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, as the server suggested, instead of the roasted vegetables and french fries. The steak was tasty, but not tender. Since I was full after finishing, I wanted to order the hybrid nachos on the dessert menu to go, but takeout was not available for the desserts. I guess I'll have to go back one day.

“Family visit to Nuts Cafe (opposite Sapporo Station)”
happened by this cafe on our way to collect our car. located on the first floor, this is an exceptionally good find. The staff were excellent. You will have to have one or two Japanese words handy. We visited as a family, two adults and two children 7 & 9. As usual with small cafes in Japan you have... to wait for availability, about 5 mins, not a problem. Be mindful that if you don't request it you will / may be seated in the smoking section without any thought or question. We were the only family in there at lunch time. The menu is in Japanese and a very nice lady from a nearby table helped us translate. The food was fresh, very hot and very plentiful. Can not fault it. We enjoyed this cafe and would highly recommend it to anyone.
