Makka

We were in Sapporo for the snow festival and had several recommendations from friends for places o try the local ramen, we were 1/2 way to one of these when we spotted this place - my wife loves Okonomiyaki, so we just dropped in. we were welcomed in and shown to a table, and given and English lang...uage menu. (neither if us speak Japanese) We made our selections which included gyoza - oddly this was shown on the board outside but not on the english menu. Drinks orders were also taken. It wasn't busy and the chef was quickly preparing our food - we had a good view of the bar/kitchen from our table. When the food arrived it blew us away, this one of the first meals we had in Japan on this trip and to be honest it set the bar so high no where else really lived up to. The staff were friendly and helpful, the food was amazing and the price as very reasonable. These guys have been open since 2007 (which coincidentally was the last time my wife visited Sappro. The only down side of this place for us is that they allow smoking, but that's the laws in Japan, and to be fair even though people at the next table did light up we were not actually disturbed by their smoke. We definitely recommend eating here.
