“Amazing matcha lunch”
We were planning to go to another place, which turned out to be closed. We made a reservation to this place instead, after reading the reviews. When we arrived, we were deciding between the super bento box vs a matcha tasting menu. Even though the latter is 1500 Yen more expensive per person, it was... completely worth it. There were 8 courses and each one was fantastically made. Each one was done with matcha and looked green. Extremely creative. I highly recommend it.

“Memorable meal:)”
Tatsumiya by the Uji River is an authentic looking place which was always packed (from the amount of shoes at the entrance:d). The first time we went they were closing up at 8pm (we found Uji is a laid back town where restaurants closed at 8 and u have to book a day before to dine in your hotel, but... I digress:d). Tatsumiya serves Kyo Ryori or Kyoto Cuisine which is regarded for the beautiful appearance and fine taste. We had booked Kaiseki dinner at the hotel for the evening so we ordered Tatsumiya's Kaiseki bento. So glad I did:) It came out as 20 over dainty pieces of Kaiseki sampler, each of which was beautifully made and tasted very good. (Fair warning to die-hard meat fans: many items in Kyo Ryori are vegetable and tofu based so u might not find this appealing food wise nor price wise). Dessert was small pieces of Pumpkin and Matcha Cheesecakes, the best ones I've tried. It had a thick taste of Matcha/Pumpkin and a hint of cream cheese just enough to let you know that they are actually cheesecakes, lol. It was a memorable meal (more so than the Kaiseki dinner:d) and if I ever in the beautiful Uji again -I intend to but so little time so many places to visit:)- I’d definitely return to Tatsumiya.
