Toukasaikan

tohkasaikan restaurant, is old school Chinese. It reminds me of the old tea houses in HK. The ambience is classic, the view spectacular. I've ate here cause after too many tempuras, too many seafood, too many ways & kobe beefs, I enjoyed simple choi sam, gyozas, and peking duck. Refreshingly simple... and nutritious.

There are two restaurants. The riverside restaurant had a deck built over the riverside. Beijing style food quite different from Cantonese style. One downside: they should remove the shark-fin soup from the menu.

Decided to try this Chinese restaurant for a change from Japanese food. Should have trusted our instincts and walked out when we were taken to side room on 5th floor with none of the charm we were anticipating in a classical building. Food was plain and disappointing. Hard to believe it was chicken ...in the stirfry main. Mains also came before starters. Service was abrupt. All up, a bad experience.

This was one of the worst meals I’ve had in my 30 years if eating out. Disgusting food that in no way resembled the menu description- a lot of it looked frozen and then either boiled or deep fried to a crispy greasy thing which was difficult to determine what it originally was. The service was abysm...al and despite the fact there were groups of up to 4 staff standing around in the door way we had to ask them to clear our plates. They then charged 18% ‘tax’ on top of the bill and pretended they couldn’t understand when we questioned. Do not eat here.

We were hungry at 4 o’clock and I walked in. We took a historic beautiful elevator with an attendant to 4. I selected from the English menu spring rolls, beef & vegetables, and shrimp tempura. Portions were large, we ordered too much food, everything was delicious service was great. No complaints..., our meal is $30 each
