“Truly Gratifying Grilled Beef!”
I am rare eater of beef. However this is by far the most delectable, succulent and tender gyu (beef in Japanese) I have tasted. The five of us had an ensemble of wagyu, sirloin, beef tongue and ribs (I think) paired with a scrumptious medley of seasonal salad, kimchi cucumber and cabbage, and bean s...prouts. Different beef types was served with various sauces that elevated the meat's flavour. Sirloin was served with grated daikon to be dipped in ponzu sauce while grilled wagyu was accompanied by soy sauce with dashes of freshly grated wasabi. Simply awesome I never knew beef could taste this good. I am also not hot on kimchi despite multiple attempts to try it. They are often heavy handed in taste and always overpowering in its use of red peppers. Fukuen's version was wonderfully lighter on the palette. Locally grown cucumber that was so crunchy and sweet. We ended our meal with home made tamago or egg flower soup that was beyond tasty. Served with sliced scallion it was a soothing end to our dinner. We paid about US$70 per head for food that was par excellence. This included beverages and sake for 1 pax as well as desserts all round. Excellent value for money indeed! I would suggest making a reservation ahead. Fukuen we will be back!
