Kitazuien Umedaten

I am surprised that reviews from Japanese are so positive. I have visited Japan for more than 20 times eating at hundreds of venues and sadly the service here is one of the most ordinary despite a 10% compulsory gratuity. Very few high end places charge extra for tea and my wife's oolong tea costed ...500 yen. Fresh and in season ingredients would be a minimum expectation, but lettuce was bruised and dried veges came with the beef. When we mentioned that the eel was bitter, nothing was said. None of the courses stand out, just ordinary. Didn't feel zen throughout the evening. There were plenty of seats available, and I can understand why after my experience.
