Tempura Endo Yasaka

We paid about $200usd per person and now, I wonder why it’s so expensive. The service is very good and the setting is lovely but we ate deep fried veggies and fish and didn’t feel that the food was all that special. I would suggest going to Itoh Dining for better overall experience- food was high q...uality, presentation sensational and service was impeccable and setting even more beautiful and better yet, the price was 1/3 of this tempura restaurant.

The service was excellent. The portions were very small with the exception of the rice bowl. There were numerous odd tempura pieces that I couldn’t identify. The staff knows no English. The eel was so fishy it was not edible. It was quite expensive for a poor meal. Save your money!! Go elsewhere....

This was one of the most insultingly awful dining experiences of my life -- the experience is nothing short of a con job. I am in a mild state of shock at the gall of the establishment to pull what they do at every step of the meal. From charging you a surprise service charge at the end to leaving t...he sake carafe on the table, hoping you'll pour yourself a glass so that they can charge you for a full bottle, to the inedible rice -- it is nothing short of impressive how disrespectful this meal is to every other part of what has been an amazing trip to Kyoto. I cannot state enough how much I regret going to this restaurant. And all for an over ~$500 check. The owners should be ashamed of themselves.

This place is highly recommended but our experience was so not worth the steep price. The food was fine but we were told before we were seated that we’d need to vacate our table at a certain time, and the service was so focused on getting us out of the place. Courses were delivered before we’d finis...hed the prior ones. The bill was astronomic. I regret not having done a better job of researching charming and special eating establishments in Kyoto, which is brimming with gems.

Shocked at price (currency confusing with so many 00s). Discovered we spent $670 on dinner for 2 - but I ate very little, being predominantly vegetarian, and neither of us ate the mains - but no discount for that! Never spent anywhere near this amount on a meal before, and never will again!
