“Neat Experience if You've Never Done This Before!”
We visited Zaou Fishing Restaurant and ordered the anniversary set. It included a T-shirt, sushi, edamame, two drinks, and assorted tempura. You are given fishing tickets. We chose six. The number of tickets determines what you can catch and eat. We caught a breaded tiger prawn and breaded horse mac...kerel. The food was delicious, but be careful of the bones. You eat on a “boat” that sits in the water. Keep in mind that seating is Japanese-style on the floor. Dress comfortably and consider this if you have knee issues. The fishing itself was a bit challenging at first. Thankfully, staff members are everywhere and happy to help. You do not really cast a line. It is more like dipping it into the water. Bait is provided. One thing to note is the ordering process. They forgot parts of our order, including our drinks, and we had to remind them. Be sure to read your receipt carefully and keep track of what is included. Overall, this is a fun and unique experience. That said, I would not return. For me, it is one of those places you visit once, enjoy, and then feel like you have seen it all.

“Was ok experience.”
The best thing that I liked about the restaurant was that we could catch fish and it was fun. The food was alright. Sitting is on the floor. They forgot our booking preferences ( was done online ) so we had to remind them. Otherwise , ok experience.

“Fun experience catching your own fish then eating it!”
A fun lunch experience where you can catch your own fish to eat. The restaurant itself is quite dark (we prefer the fishing restaurant further south in Osaka) but the staff were attentive and the service fast. We caught a fish that they cooked in two ways that we chose. The food was delicious. Great... fun

“Fun for Celebrations, Younger Kids”
Visited this restaurant with a reservation for the most basic fishing menu that we booked using Rakuten. We are an American family of 4 with two teenagers. We booked a semi private room - traditional seats on the floor which was fun. The room/restaurant is a bit worn and is not “fancy” - it is defin...itely geared much more for younger kids and larger parties/celebrations! We had more than enough food with the package. Catching a fish is always fun but watch your eyes! Basically you snag it by the fin using a pole with a single tri-tip hook that can snap back up if you’re not careful - there’s no traditional bait that they will bite for. Once you catch your fish, you can choose how you would like it prepared (sashimi, deep fry, soy marinated, etc.). Dishes were tasty and satisfying. Staff was helpful with the fishing when asked - don’t be shy about asking for help as they tended to help the larger more vocal groups. A few things of note: The fish swam in a shallow large pool and were divided into sections so that lines wouldn’t snag when fishing. Under the bright lighting, it was a little bit of a sad aquarium - so if you’re not used to seeing your food alive before eating it or shopping at a more traditional wet market, brace yourself and your kids for that. Otherwise, I would recommend going with a bigger group for a celebration.
