“A must-do restaurant, one of the best I've ever experienced”

I highly recommend this unique, extremely welcoming restaurant. I recommend reserving a seat at this restaurant, as it could get crowded. I booked one day in advance on Google, but you can book further in advance. The food was pretty good. If you didn't know, the unique part about this restaurant is... that it allows you to catch fish to eat. You can either get seated on the wooden boats, private rooms, or the large banquet hall (Usually for very large groups, the wooden boat seating and private rooms have traditional Japanese floor mats, meaning you'll be sitting on the ground while dining. You will also have to take off your shoe. You can either fish on your boat or in a dedicated area. They have many different types of fish you can catch, and there will be staff in the dedicated fishing area to help, teach, and assist you. Catching your fish can definitely take patience, but finally catching a fish brings great reward. Staff will celebrate, bang a large traditional Japanese drum, have you take a picture of your fish, and then let you pick the method of preparation. They have a menu sheet there where they will ask you your desired preparation method, like sushi or sashimi, for example. If you're not able to catch anything, don't worry. There are also menus where you can order drinks, side dishes, and fish, but it is actually cheaper to catch your own fish than to order. The staff were extremely helpful and nice, the two young staff members were extremely apologetic (Once I caught a fish, but one of them accidentally knocked it back into the water and immediately started apologizing and bowing) and nice to me (Fistbumping and stuff) at the fishing section, and they celebrated with great happiness when I caught a big fish. The location is also very convenient, being very close to Dotonbori. The price is pretty fair as well, paying for food (The bigger the fish you catch, the more expensive), equipment, and the entry fee. The price is fair. Overall, this is a must-do restaurant. It being unique, while also extremely heartwarming and rewarding, is the best situation that anyone can have while visiting a restaurant. Highly recommend, a must-visit restaurant.

“Neat Experience if You've Never Done This Before!”

We visited Zaou Fishing Restaurant and ordered the anniversary set. It included a T-shirt, sushi, edamame, two drinks, and assorted tempura. You are given fishing tickets. We chose six. The number of tickets determines what you can catch and eat. We caught a breaded tiger prawn and breaded horse mac...kerel. The food was delicious, but be careful of the bones. You eat on a “boat” that sits in the water. Keep in mind that seating is Japanese-style on the floor. Dress comfortably and consider this if you have knee issues. The fishing itself was a bit challenging at first. Thankfully, staff members are everywhere and happy to help. You do not really cast a line. It is more like dipping it into the water. Bait is provided. One thing to note is the ordering process. They forgot parts of our order, including our drinks, and we had to remind them. Be sure to read your receipt carefully and keep track of what is included. Overall, this is a fun and unique experience. That said, I would not return. For me, it is one of those places you visit once, enjoy, and then feel like you have seen it all.

The best thing that I liked about the restaurant was that we could catch fish and it was fun. The food was alright. Sitting is on the floor. They forgot our booking preferences ( was done online ) so we had to remind them. Otherwise , ok experience.

“Fun experience catching your own fish then eating it!”

A fun lunch experience where you can catch your own fish to eat. The restaurant itself is quite dark (we prefer the fishing restaurant further south in Osaka) but the staff were attentive and the service fast. We caught a fish that they cooked in two ways that we chose. The food was delicious. Great... fun
