I reserved a boat table for my girlfriend and me but was told that we could only catch the more expensive fish breed from our seat. If we want cheaper options, we’ll have to walk to the other side and ‘fish’ from a few small tanks instead. After catching our fish, they were taken to the kitchen to ...prepare for serving. However, the size of the fishes that ended up on our table does not fit the ones we caught. I fish in the sea often and so is aware of how much a fish would shrink upon cooking, and I’m pretty sure we were not being given the actual fishes we caught at all. Size of fish aside, the quality of the food was also disappointing. The sashimi is tough to bite into and the rice is hard. We also couldn’t taste any sake in the dish supposedly cooked in some ‘sake style’. To top it off, the Wifi was so slow my girlfriend was unable to connect to it at all. I felt the food is overpriced as a lobster about the size of a tiger prawn cost a whopping 6600 yen. I paid almost 18000 yen for a two pax meal, which included a service charge of 418 yen PER PAX. The staff are helpful, though annoyingly, they came to our table to upsell expensive dishes more than once. I think this place is a tourist trap, but to look on the bright side, the experience of fishing for our meal is still fun.

We visited Zaou Fishing Restaurant and ordered the anniversary set. It included a T-shirt, sushi, edamame, two drinks, and assorted tempura. You are given fishing tickets. We chose six. The number of tickets determines what you can catch and eat. We caught a breaded tiger prawn and breaded horse mac...kerel. The food was delicious, but be careful of the bones. You eat on a “boat” that sits in the water. Keep in mind that seating is Japanese-style on the floor. Dress comfortably and consider this if you have knee issues. The fishing itself was a bit challenging at first. Thankfully, staff members are everywhere and happy to help. You do not really cast a line. It is more like dipping it into the water. Bait is provided. One thing to note is the ordering process. They forgot parts of our order, including our drinks, and we had to remind them. Be sure to read your receipt carefully and keep track of what is included. Overall, this is a fun and unique experience. That said, I would not return. For me, it is one of those places you visit once, enjoy, and then feel like you have seen it all.

We requested to grill all our fish orders. Bjt what they do is like fry it for a few minutes then grill for 1 minute.. and still deny rhey fry the fish. Been eating fried fish for 50yrs. I know what fried taste like.

The best thing that I liked about the restaurant was that we could catch fish and it was fun. The food was alright. Sitting is on the floor. They forgot our booking preferences ( was done online ) so we had to remind them. Otherwise , ok experience.

A fun lunch experience where you can catch your own fish to eat. The restaurant itself is quite dark (we prefer the fishing restaurant further south in Osaka) but the staff were attentive and the service fast. We caught a fish that they cooked in two ways that we chose. The food was delicious. Great... fun
