“A Must-Try Culinary Gem in Kobe!”

I had the pleasure of visiting "La Shomon" in July 2023 with my 11-year-old son, and I must say, it was an unforgettable dining experience. We were looking for a place to have dinner, and stumbling upon this yakiniku restaurant turned out to be a delightful stroke of luck. It was actually so good t...hat we decided to go back three years after. We took a day trip from Osaka just to experience La Shomon again. The real highlight of the evening was undoubtedly the food. For starters, we opted for the "Yume no seto," a beautifully presented platter featuring four different cuts of Wagyu meat and Wagyu sashimi. We were given a tabletop charcoal grill and tongs to cook the meat to our preferred level of doneness. The Wagyu meat was fresh, beautifully marbled, and unbelievably tender, resulting in a taste that's difficult to put into words. Additionally, the restaurant offers a selection of 10-15 different cuts of Kobe beef each day, and we chose the chateaubriand for our main course. The Kobe beef was a revelation - grilled to perfection by one of the attentive staff members. It's safe to say that this was the most amazing steak we have ever had; a true testament to the exceptional quality of Kobe beef. The pricing at "La Shomon" is surprisingly reasonable, almost to the point of being considered a bargain. Given the outstanding quality of all the cuts of meat, it's an absolute steal. Though we didn't make a reservation, we were fortunate enough to find a table available just as we got out of the train station. However, I can see why reserving a spot would be advisable, especially during peak hours. One unique touch that added to the overall charm of "La Shomon" was the guest book ritual. After our meal, the staff presented us with a guest book and colored pens, encouraging us to share our experience and leave a little greeting. It was heartwarming and fun to read entries from guests all over the world, and we happily left our highest remarks. And they actually found the book we wrote in three years ago In conclusion, "La Shomon" is an absolute must-visit if you're in Kobe. The combination of the delightful ambiance, friendly staff, and, most importantly, the exceptional taste of Wagyu and Kobe beef, makes it an experience worth cherishing. Trust me, this restaurant alone is worth a trip to Kobe!

We were very Fortunately chose this restaurant for our Kobe beef dinner adventure. With English speaking owner and very generous hospitality we had a wonderful evening. A unique dining experience as you cook the various Wagu beef cuts on a hot coals bbq at your table , with expert assistance from Ka...i and Laura Lee is just great. Local Beer and good wines are available, pricing for everything is modest and well worth it. Can very highly recommended

“Wonderful Experience in Kobe !”

My wife and I just returned from one of the most memorable meals of our trip to Japan. La Shomon is a small, family-run yakiniku restaurant tucked into a quiet neighborhood outside central Kobe. Dining here felt like being welcomed into someone’s home — warm, relaxed, and deeply genuine. We chose t...he tasting set featuring several different cuts of Wagyu, which allowed us to appreciate the range of textures and flavors. Each cut told its own story. Cooking over a small charcoal grill at the table brought out the best in the beef and let us enjoy each bite at our own pace. After the set, we were able to order additional cuts à la carte to revisit our favorites — one of the most enjoyable parts of the meal. Throughout the evening, the owners and staff shared small insights about the meat and preparation, and their presence felt natural and sincere. They spoke English comfortably, which allowed us to engage more personally and added warmth to the entire experience. The pricing was surprisingly reasonable given the quality of the beef, the care in preparation, and the intimate atmosphere. This meal felt like a rare balance of exceptional flavor, authenticity, and true hospitality. We had originally planned to dine in downtown Sannomiya, but decided at the last minute to venture out. The quick JR trip was absolutely worth it — in fact, the experience was exactly what we had hoped to find in Japan. If you’re considering Wagyu in Kobe, skip the showy teppanyaki restaurants and treat yourself to something more personal and meaningful. La Shomon is the kind of place you remember.

“Unforgettable Yakiniku Experience”

During our trip to Kobe last August, my wife and I had the pleasure of dining at “La Shomon”, and it was nothing short of incredible. This family-run Japanese-American steakhouse offers an exceptional yakiniku experience, serving different cuts of Kobe Wagyu, including an outstanding A5-grade select...ion that simply melted in our mouths. Despite not having a reservation, we were warmly welcomed by the owners’ son, a friendly and easygoing native English speaker, who managed to find us a spot at the counter. His hospitality, along with the kindness of the entire staff, made us feel right at home. To top off this unforgettable evening, we were invited to leave a note in their memory book. Since their old book was nearly full, we had the honor of writing on the first page of the new one—a special touch to an already memorable experience. If you ever find yourself near Kobe, La Shomon is an absolute must-visit. Greetings from Italy to you all! 🇮🇹🇯🇵
