“Nice kushiyage restaurant”
Found this by chance when looking for a place to eat back from a long journey in Kyoto, in the basement of a business building. The restaurant was a bit more pricey than other meals I had, but it was worth it. As soon as you arrive, you get an assortment of sauces and salts to dip the sticks in alon...g with a cup of vegetables. The fried dips are prepared on order by the cook right in front of you. The choice is really wide, from whole asparagus to cail eggs through octopus and chicken wings. The food is really delicious, much less fat than one could expect. The portions are quite small though and you'll need many to satisfy your hunger. To conclude, you can get some tasty orange sorbet. Things to know for the note: there is a base fee of ¥500 per person and for each kind of dip you order, you'll need to have at least two of each. An English menu is availiable and the waitress, like usual, does her best to be helpful. Overall it was a really great experience with some kind of food I didn't really expected to find there.
