Miyasu

Can't visit Kobe without trying their famed Kobe beef. I contemplated between teppanyaki (which seems like the more popular choice) and steak for our dinner. In the end, I opted for Miyasu Steakhouse, the elusive 2 michelin star restaurant in the city centre. The opening hours are extremely limited,... only from 5 pm - 9 pm. From the decor, it was clear that the restaurant has been around for a long time. The atmosphere is a comfortable one, unlike some places which may be overly formal. We opted for the set dinner (ala carte is also available), which comes with a choice of starters, soup, steak, curry rice and finally dessert. Everything was delicious. We really enjoyed our steak with is melt-in-your-mouth quality. So this is what Kobe beef tastes like! The chef cooked it over a charcoal grill and his timing was perfect. Do not miss out on the curry rice, which is the best I ever had in my life. We were already very full after the fatty steak but after taking a bite of the curry, we couldn't stop. It was so rich and flavorful. Dessert was also wonderful. I chose the pudding while my partner got the sorbet. Service is very efficient and polite. We were given the counter seat and was able to see the chef cooking. I highly recommend anyone who can afford it to try out Miyasu steakhouse. Be sure to make a reservation early as the place was very full when we went.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend. We knew it would be expensive but were disappointed with the beef. There was no marbling. Pretty good steak and veg but the gravy sauce seemed entirely inappropriate. Also we ordered a half bottle of a burgundy wine from a producer we knew and liked only ...to be served up an alternative, already opened bottle, from a different producer. The wine was actually fine but I would have appreciated being informed prior to them opening the bottle. Atmosphere was a bit odd - not Japanese at all.

I am a visitor and I probably only have genuine Kobe beef once in my life so I want everything in this experience to be perfect, and Miyasu delivered. This restaurant only operate 4 hours each day and have very limited seats, that's why you can't find many reviews online.

I have been commuting this resturant for more than 20 years. The quality of the Kobe beef, never going down. And also the service they provide is good for me.
