“Amazing Experience”
This restaurant only seats 10 people, so we’re truly honored to have been given the opportunity to dine here. Chef Takatomo Izumi is a highly skilled artisan who wants you to experience every aspect of what you’re about to eat. He prepares and explained every dish as it was set before us in English.... The food was out of this world as was the service. The chef was so very courteous during and after the meal, even helping us with our coats and seeing us off. What an amazing culinary adventure. I highly highly recommend this establishment.

“Brilliant meal from a Michelin star.”
This was a very special meal that only cost $110. Everyone sits at the bar facing the chefs who chat with you as they make your meal. It was delicious fish and tofu. It's best for adventerous eaters as you have things like whitebait that you eat whole.

“This restaurant deserves its Michelin Star rating”
My daughter and I had booked this restaurant as the highlight of our stay in Kyoto and this Kaiseki fully met all of our expectations. All courses were of the highest quality and a delight. The two dishes that were the absolute highlight for me, was the sesame based tofu and the sea-bass which was c...ooked to perfection and its crisped skin. All courses were well explained and the 8 seats at the counter made it a relaxed and intimate atmosphere

“Honeymoon dinner”
As a tourist it is sometimes difficult to make a reservation at a michelin restaurat in Japan in advance but with Jiki Miyazawa it was super easy (online). We had a wonderful honeymoon dinner and staff was extremly friendly and offered a desert. We were lucky because there was an english speaking gu...y but eventhough we could not talk to other staff members we tried with "hands and feet" and we had a wonderful night. Food - Amazing Drinks - Amazing Price - Affordable We definitely will be back soon.

“Interesting Kaiseki experience, but failed to impress”
Dinner on 28th April 2024: as part of our Japanese (food) trip, we wanted to try a Kaiseki restaurant, which tends to be quite expensive. This one-star Michelin restaurant offered an interesting first menu, at least from a price perspective (JPY13,200), which seems a good value choice for a family o...f four, including 2 teenagers. The setting is very Japenese: wooden decorated and dinner by the counter, with chefs preparing dishes in front of people. There is no list of what will be brought to your table so your palate must be quite open to new experience and taste :) Overall, it was a surprising experience but not necessarily what we expected. Food quality was undisputable, presentation was sharp, execution was very professional. But all had the same feeling: while the objective was likely to make things “as pure as possible), most dishes lacked of character. Our daughter expression from most of them was “bland” (even the dessert). While it was not bland per se, we could understand and feel what she meant. The service was professional, courteous and smiling. Our children felt welcome. The wine list, while not large, provides interesting bottles and good finds. We opted for a champagne, Beaumont des Crayères fleur de meunier (blanc de noirs, 100% pinot meunier) which was just superb for the whole meal and priced at c. 16,000JPY if I remember correctly (c. 100 eur). The final bill amounted to 87,500JPY for 4, including the above champagne + half Delamotte champagne bottle + a few soft drinks (Yuzu juices). Which seems very reasonable for a 1-star Michelin restaurant. We would have loved to be impressed and give a 5-star rating but unfortunately, it was not the case. The experience was worthwile though, for a Kaiseki souvenir in Kyoto.
