“Hot Shot Rocks In Every Way! I love It!”
I stayed at the Wayfarer Hotel next door to Hot Shot’s and ended up at the bar a total of 3 times in 2 nights! It’s the perfect Kyoto corner dive bar! Aiko was amazingly welcoming and the bar regulars were a fun bunch. It’s a clean, warm, welcoming local neighborhood bar. Aiko also makes killer Okon...omiyaki, it was both huge and delicious! I would eat anything on the menu it all looked and smelled delicious. The draft beer was ice cold and cheap, especially since the temperature in Kyoto was mid 30°C (95°+ F). We had an awesome time all 3 times and the regulars who hang out there are a fun bunch. I loved visiting Hot Shots and hope to come back soon! Check it out you will love this tiny little local neighborhood dive bar as well.

“Amazing food, English menu, Beer Happy Hour - perfection!”
A 5 minute walk from our Guest House, ‘Hot Shot’ was signposted very well outside, bright lights and ‘Hot Shot’ sign. We came in at about 6:30 with plenty of room for 2. Loads of choice on the menu - yakisoba, egg pancakes, gyozas and plenty more. Happy hour for beer is 6 - 8. Really clean, welcomin...g and warm gem of a place! Friendly lady on the teppan and lovely tasting food - I finished my food before my boyfriend for once! Back in Tokyo we actually found it hard to find a restaurant that did Sake - they do warm and cold sake here!

“Dinner and a show!”
We really enjoyed watching the cook prepare the dishes right in front of us with fluid and efficient movements. We had a seafood dish which was very good. Some of the patrons smoke but it didn't bother us as the ventilation hood over the cooking surface pulls the smoke away quickly.

“AMAZING”
The best Okonomiyaki and Teppanyaki we have had in Japan!!! This is a must. Lovely local hot spot. Cheap beers during happy hour and just an all round great authentic experience. The fried rice is also amazing!!! We will be back.

“Great local restaurant”
We have now dined here twice over the past three years whilst staying locally. The restaurant is a typical local Japanese teppanyaki, with patrons sitting at the bar whilst watching the very friendly lady who runs the place cooking in front of you. There is an extensive English menu and our food w...as delicious on both visits. Our draft beers were superb, very cold and refreshing, with just a hint of ice on top. For an authentic experience with the locals at a very reasonable price this is a great spot.
