La maison de gurashiani Kobekitano

Set in a grand mansion in the Kitano district of Kobe this is a distinctly French restaurant with some Japanese touches. Service is with fine china and cutlery and we were a table of four with a room to ourselves. Our waiter/sommelier was a lovely young man but with limited English and although the... wine list was packed with great Burgundy and Bordeaux wines his knowledge seemed a little sketchy. In the end we persuaded him that In Japan we wanted a Japanese wine (not Sake) and they managed to find one bottle in their cellar from Chateau Mercian which we drank at a rather inflated price! The food itself was very good and it turned out the head chef was not in the kitchen that night as he was ill so all credit to the team there. He has trained at some good addresses around the world too. The set menu was lovely with some nice touches and it was nice to taste French food in a different environment although the atmosphere was a little lacking in the private room. This is Michelin star cooking and in Japan that does not come cheap but certainly we would recommend this restaurant.

A very nice Michelin 1 star restaurant serving French cuisine by a Japanese chef. Every dish is prepared with heart and passion. We, a group of some 20 people, ordered the chef's choice menu. We exchanged emails on the food allergy and food likes and dislikes. All requests were carefully considered... to design the courses. We had a wonderful evening thereat.

Maison Graciani is a chic Villa in an upscale area of Kobe. We had a fantastic meal where each dish was perfectly executed. Especially the Beef was outstanding. Good wine pairing for fair prices.

A very good French cuisine from a Japanese chef with lots of experience in fine dining who decided to open his own place. I just went there for the week-end lunch menu, the food is inventive, delicious, fresh and extremely tasty. As always, the service in this type of French restaurant in Japan is a... bit overbearing as I prefer to ask about a dish rather than have it explained in details before letting me eat it... The wine list is extensive and wines by glass were excellently chosen while remaining reasonable in price. I will definitely go again for dinner to try a more extensive selection. Not a place for every day casual meals of course but for a special occasion, it might well be one of the best French restaurants around ! I checked while writing these few words and Michelin has already granted 1 star, well deserved !
