“DO NOT COME HERE! VERY EGO CHIEF WITH BAD INGREIDENT”

Definitely worst experience I have ever had. Very ego chief and no quality. Sashimi has tendon in it, eel with rice is over grilled…..I won’t even call this a Kaiseki! When I returned my dish, they thought I don’t understand Japanese and chatted with each other in Japanese“Is this her first Kaiseki?...” Sorry, I went to lots of Kaiseki restaurants before and second, you should never treat your customer in this way. What a rude thing to say…. Combined with food and service quality, it was a joke. You can save time from here. Highly recommend staying away from this restaurant! I truly feel bad to see a good restaurant turned down once a master gives his knife to the second generation.

“First Experience”

Our friend made dinner arrangement at this place. Our first experience dining here and really enjoyed the warm hospitality, great food presentation and fresh quality given the prices. This is no ordinary restaurant, with only 10 seats. The owner (father of the chef), is mingling with the crowd and ...having drinks with the guests. The chef had 2 assistants and one of them is able to speak English. We had the most luxurious menu which had the seasonable autumn mushroom and eel from Lake Biwa. The food presented had both soup, cold, warm and grilled dishes. The whole dinner experience took about 3hrs, please be patient. Highly recommended if you can get a table.

“Most Memorable Meal from First-Time Visit to Japan”

My husband found this and we were able to book a reservation through Tableall. The restaurant is located on a quiet street filled with other low-key restaurants. There were 2 other couples the same night we were there. While most of us kept to ourselves throughout the meal, it was wonderful to inter...act with the chefs (as best as possible with communication barriers & Google Translate). They have an encyclopedia of ingredients that they will pull up to show you what ingredients are included in your dish! All 3 chefs were absolutely wonderful and extremely talented in end to end - preparation, cooking, service. The attention to detail in this kaiseki meal is astounding - to see the number of individual ingredients prepared in unique ways that are combined together to create these beautiful dishes, is incredible. The preparation truly emphasized the taste and flavors of each ingredient, to the point where you show appreciation for simple ingredients that are quite accessible - but you experience the high quality of the ingredient (picked out by the chefs) and are surprised at the depth of flavors that come out during tasting. I still think about the boiled eel and the grilled eel. While those were the most memorable, every single dish from beginning to end was outstanding. We opted for the middle tier meal. Absolutely worth it if you can ever go once in a lifetime.

“Hassun, traditional and delicious”

Excellent food. True master chefs. Very traditional Japanese dining experience. Could feel a little rigid/intimidating at times. But for those with an adventurous palate looking for high level execution, this is worth a trip.

We had lunch at Hassun and the food was top notch. The location is pretty small which makes for quite an intimate experience. Great use of ingredients and the food had amazing flavour. Chefs used a book with pictures to show us what was being prepared and served.
