Shiawase-no Pankeki Kyoto

We ordered the traditional happy pancakes, they were very fluffy!! However, the taste of egg was so overwhelming and strong! The toppings were good! But I do think the taste of egg is too much.

We were really keen to try fluffy pancakes after seeing so many videos of them when planning our trip to Japan - aesthetically and taste-wise, these didn't disappoint. I've read quite a few of the mixed reviews for this place, for us the experience was smooth, but it was really helpful to know how t...he process works. You go up to the first floor and the first thing you see is a screen that is sometimes blank or sometimes has numbers on it. Don't touch this screen, it is just showing the reservation number for whatever group is meant to go in at that time. Don't go right, this takes you to a bar. Instead, turn left and walk just into the doorway restaurant where there is a ticket machine to your left. There, you can print out your ticket number which also has a QR code on it. I can't remember if it was there, but somewhere at this point you are also advised what the approximate wait time is (we went at peak time and it was an hour, luckily we weren't too hungry!). If you scan the QR code, you can see in almost real-time (refreshed every 30s) how many groups are waiting before you. You can also enter your email to be sent an email when your table is ready. You can't wait in the hallway which is understandable because so many people are coming in and out, but the place is right next to Nishiki market, so we just wandered around the shops and kept an eye on the waitlist. When there were three groups ahead of us we made our way back. I had the special peach pancakes and they were better than expected. Light and fluffy, incredible mixture of tastes, and I ate way more than I should have because they were just so good. The space itself is pretty simple but really clean, and they have a window where you can see the chefs at work. Service was simple, you order via a QR code, not a lot of contact. It would have been nice to have a more personal service, but with so many people coming in and out it's understandable that they have an automated system.

Terrible service, went for breakfast they had 2 tables worth of people and got told the wait time was 1 hour. No one came to us standing at the door, so we walked in after waiting a few minutes and got told to go back to the door. 0/10.

The OG pancake was nice . The salmon and avacado was good . Avoid the mushroom omlet . Coffee was very average

Not an expert but the fluffy pancakes were good. The service seemed slow, but we had no trouble being seated on a Monday morning. Fairly good coffee options (lattes).
