“Amazingly tasty and artistic dinner”
This was probably the best meal we had in Japan! The food was absolutely incredible, and the plating was a work of art in itself. Courses are small, but we were absolutely stuffed by the end of the meal.

“Amazing....”
We had an amazing meal last night at Gion 245. It's a tough reservation to get - a Michelin-starred special with only 10 seats at the counter and a small table in the back. The Ritz-Carlton in Kyoto helped with the reservation. I think this is an unusual situation. The restaurant has 20 perfect ...ratings and reviews and the restaurant has not yet "claimed" the page to manage their end of the relationship. Gion 245 has a Michelin star and the chef has competed in the world tapas championship last year in Spain. The food is considered Italian, but it's really Japanese Italian. I wouldn't eel with a smoked quail egg in my local Italian Restaurant. The vegetable dish was so unusual and excellent - I wanted more. The Kobe beef at the end was amazing - dessert was special. I was within one course of asking for the bill because I couldn't eat anymore. What a great experience and the friendliness to the only English speaking people in the restaurant was excellent. This is a world-class place in the Gion District in Kyoto.

“Best Dinner in Japan”
Our culinary tour included Narisawa, Kyubey, Tapas Molecular Bar, Monk, Jiki Miyazawa, Seirinkan, and none were as amazing as this little gem. Recommend reservation as only 8 counter seats, and prepare to be wowed! I really wish more stars could be given to this gem of a restaurant. It’s honestly th...e best Italian I’ve ever eaten, and we have spent a fair amount of time eating in Italy itself. So highly recommend, o can’t even begin to put into words how thankful we were to experience this culinary genius.

“If you can get a reservation, do not pass it up.”
Seven courses for lunch, one of the best meals I've ever had. Smoking eel and a quail egg, amazing, grilled scallops, grilled vegetables with black garlic, cappellini with caviar and salmon roe, unbelievable, Kobe beef, dessert, wine. All excellent.

“Mesmerizing!”
Absolutely amazing culinary experience. We just loved it. The restaurant is in the oldest part of Kyoto and not easy to find among small wooden entrances that look all alike in Gion. The menu is a surprise and you don't know what you're going to eat. Not only the food was astonishing but most of all... the plates setting. It is not just a pleasant presentation, it is an ultimate culinary art. Compliments and congratulations to the chef who deserves Michelin stars...
