“Delicious and accessible traditional Japanese bar experience”
Incredible food, charming chef (his English is quite good!) and a beautiful interior. Great for couples and smaller groups (the entire bar has about 10 seats). The set menu is also quite a good deal at 8 dishes for 6000 yen--we were so full by the end! Have been visiting Kyoto since about 2000, cann...ot recommend highly enough.

“Great Kaiseki restaurant where 8, 9 or 10 set dishes (close menu) are served by the chef as he makes it in front of you”
I was looking to have with my wife a Keiseki food experience while in Kyoto and out of the many restaurants I found in Google, Sajiki Toshigami drew my attention. The place is very small sitting only 6-7 people on a bar style sitting around the kitchen. However it makes the setting very private and ...close to the action as the great chef prepares and explains the content of each of the set menu plates. Total difference dishes I have ever had. The Sake was also very good.

“Full-Course Hamo (Daggertooth Pike Conger Eel) Dinner”
My husband researched a restaurant that could prepare a Hamo Course (the bones must be specially treated). The ratings/comments were good, so we reserved. It was a lovely kaiseki dinner, multiple courses prepared in various ways with Hamo starring in Sashimi, Sushi, Teriyaki, Tempura, and Shabu-shab...u. The soup from the Shabu-shabu had rice & egg added to make a zosui, and with the 3 amuse-bouche & dessert- it was a very interesting dinner. The sake recommendations were delicious, and the service was good. We had a hard time finding the place, sitting in the taxi right in front of the restaurant & not sure it was the correct place. The bicycles parked out front belonged to the locals came here. I had no expectations of the Hamo, but my husband raised in Kyoto had hoped that one dish would be that "Hamo-memory dish" his Grandmother used to cook for him as a child. Also, we were seated upstairs, maybe due to Covid19, but I missed any interaction with the chef.
