“Good food”

After visiting the incredible Nara park we visited Cafe Etranger for a bite to eat. We shared a pizza, fries and some focaccia the food was very good. You will most likely walk past here on the way to or from the park well worth a visit for a drink or bite to eat.

Restaurant, bar, place to hang out, great for tourist to meet new people. Staff is super friendly and flexible. Pizza is amazing, cocktails are good, ambiance is super relax and comfy. Wide options of snacks from Nara.

“Worst pizza I've had in the last 10 years.”

For a place that presents itself as pizza restaurant, I was shocked at how awful the pizzas were. Bases were ready made and soggy underneath, topping only covered half the base. Absolutely no tomato sauce. Almost inedible but not cheap. Definitely won't go back.

“Worst service I’ve ever experienced”

I’m a travel blogger and part of that is photographing places to eat for my blog. I saw they did a really cute ice cream With a deer cookie in. We went in to get one, it was almost empty and we were a group of six. We were going to order coffees, beers and pizza, and I was going to get the ice cream.... When I first tried to order it they told me they had sold out of reindeer cookies for the top of the ice cream. I said that was ok and could I have an ice cream anyway. After 20 minutes the ice cream hadn’t come, i went to the shop next door and picked up a 50p sized reindeer cookie (you can see it in the photo) When I came back I asked if the ice cream was coming, once again they said there were no deer cookies and I said it didn’t bother me, I’d still like the ice cream. I then showed the waiter the deer cookie I bought next door and said I would put it in the ice cream for a photo. He got really angry and told me I couldn’t bring food from outside. I said it’s just for a photo on the ice cream and I won’t eat it on the premises. He then told me I wasn’t allowed to take a photo of the ice cream with an inferior deer cookie in. I was genuinely confused by this point and the people I was with ended up not ordering pizza or beer as they were put off by their odd rules. Instead we ordered coffees. My ice cream Finally came (in the wrong cone) and once again he said no photos of the ice cream, I asked if I could take a photo of it without the cookie in and he said no! Weirdly you can get these ice creams to take away so could easily just snap a shot if you get a take away. I then said ok I will take one outside and he tried to stop me going outside onto a public street with an ice cream I had paid for (overpriced). So I did it anyway. I got charged the full price plus tax even though the ice cream was wrong and half of it was missing. I’ve never had such an odd experience in a cafe... the ice cream was pretty bland in the end

Do visit this cafe if you are in Nara as it is spacious enough for your luggage to be placed beside you while you eat. There is a nursing room as well. Toilets are immaculate. More importantly there’s a information centre for tourist within the cafe. The cafe is really pretty and the food is very cr...eative and meticulously prepared.
