“Pretty good lunch option”
Located on the second floor, part of the Hannari Hokkori Square, the same complex as the Randen Arashiyama Station is this cafe that offers lunch. We really enjoyed both their beefsteak lunch and their shabushabu pork noodles. Both were simple and tasty. Considering we are at a tourist mecca, ...the price is moderate. (still pricey for what you get) It is a good option especially if you are wanting something not too Japanese.

“Worst cafe in japan ”
For us, this was an awful food experience & by far the worst restaurant we ate at in the whole of Japan. Menu looked nice however plates presented looked and tasted horrible. Pasta was bland & steaks were chewy/fatty.

“Solid Cafe for Lunch”
Seems like Wednesdays are “closed or rest day” for some restaurants in Arashiyama. We also noticed that the Sagano Romantic Train is closed on Wednesdays. So, we found this café on the second floor of the building next to the Randen Arashiyama Station & across the street from Tenryu-ji Temple on t...he main road. The food is Japanese fusion w/ some western influence like salads w/ avocado, pasta dishes to name a few. Food was very good & tasty, nothing special (ie something we can get in San Francisco bay area). As we were famished, only wished we had time to find a traditional Japanese restaurant serving local foods.

“Nice terrace with lunch sets opposite Tenryu-ji Temple”
On the main tourist road in Arayshiyama opposite of Tenryu-ji Temple you can find the Obu Café. It has a nice terrace on first floor with nice views. The Café offers changing lunch sets. Food was very fresh, tasted very good and service was fine.
