A very good experience. Food was very good, service great. We came with a baby and they took great care of us. Reservation essential, we could only get a table 2 days in advance.

My wife and I had lunch here today, fantastic food, flawless. ( and good value for the money) One of the best meals we have ever had, service is wonderful- we speak very little Japanese and they speak very little English, but attention ,care and quality are a universal language. The restaurant is in... a beautiful heritage building which further adds to the experience.

“Really Good Japanese/French Kaiseki”

We dined at Kishozakura for the first time. The restaurant is located somewhat off the beaten path, on the extreme southern edge of Gion. It has a very attractive facade that blends in well with the neighborhood of older traditional homes. We had the "Rokuhara" dinner menu (5,000 JPY/person). Th...e menu was full of wonderful flavors and surprises. Individual portions were small, but the entire course was just right and filling. Service was very refined. I would definitely consider making a second visit next time we visit Kyoto. Highly Recommended.

“Great french-japanese food”

We chanced upon this place while staying in the neighbourhood in April and had one of the best meals during our trip. The waitress spoke only Japanese but the menu had English translation. We were initially concerned regarding the menu as it listed 7-8 different items with a choice of different main... course. After spending 10 minutes trying to find out more from the waitress, we decided to take the plunge and ordered the most expensive set with different main courses. The food was perfect! Each item came in small serving size, perfectly presented and balanced. It was a well thought out menu with each dish tasting different and somehow leading harmoniously to the next, ending with 2 desserts. The cost of the dinner was less than that for a traditional kaiseki dinner. The meal was considered good value dinner considering the quality of the food and the beautiful restaurant. We were the only one of two tables occupied that night. The other table was occupied by a Japanese couple. Great for people who want a change from traditional Japanese food.
