“Outstanding Kaiseki meal in Gion”
Excellent Kaiseki meal with several courses of small plates with innovative Kyoto cuisine. The food is outstanding, the Chef is engaging, showed us some of the fish from a book and explained many of the other ingredients. Well priced for the experience. A memorable evening and highly recommended.

“In the backstreets of Gion”
This place wasn't easy to find (for me) but I got there eventually and the chef didn't seem to mind that I was about 15 minutes late for my sitting. The food was great. I think it had a Michelin star when I went in 2011 I don't know if it does now. But the best bit of the evening was the people. I w...as sat in between two diners, one a solo female diner with little English, the other the husband of the assistant chef who already had good English and was learning as was Mrs behind the counter. I soon had them bringing out their Encyclopedia of Japanese Ingredients and explaining what all the ingredients of the dishes were :) Good food, good night in a traditional Japanese high end counter restaurant serving set Kaiseki meal.

“High Class of Traditional to Modern Kyoto Cuisine”
Visited on 6th February 2014. Owner Chef Mr. Kazuya Fujiwara has 37 years of professional cooking experience and he has served 2 years with Ambassador of Japan for Australia. Chef Fujiwara-san speak English well also, second chef Tae-san speak English and enjoying conversation with customer over the... counter. Nice cosy atmosphere, enjoy food and conversation with other customers. My wife and I had dinner on next day again with all different menu. I enjoyed Kappou Fujiwara very much and would like to recommend real Kyoto cuisine for visitors from Overseas.
