“Historical and tasty noodles”
We arrived at around 1.20 and got a table at 2. The staff were very friendly and the service was quick. The food was amazing and very aesthetically appealing. Portion size are great and the little cakes they sell at the counter are also delightful.

“Enjoyable udon”
I came along here after visiting the Imperial Palace at around 4 PM and was able to get a seat no problem. The restaurant definitely has a nice vibe about it. The staff are very friendly and the service is quick. I got the udon and shrimp tempura and enjoyed each bite of it.

“550 year old restaurant with classic soba”
Don't listen to the people nitpicking this place. It's a historical landmark and it's 550 years old. I've never been to a restaurant that old before and don't think I ever will again, so I give it a lot of leeway haha. We went for lunch and were able to walk right in. It's so cool to walk through hi...story like this (pretty much all of Kyoto is like this.) but even cooler to eat soba that comes from this ancient tradition. I got the deluxe soba meal with all the little extras like shrimp, seaweed, garlic paste, etc. It's like 5 plates of soba, which is a LOT of food for lunch, but I had to get the full experience. My wife finished her normal set of soba and was jealous and still a bit hungry, so I gave her some of mine to help me finish it. The soba is quite good. It's not like omg I've never tasted flavor like this before, it's buckwheat soba noodles, it's basic and simple and beautiful. Go for the experience and the food is quite good! You will leave having tasted culinary history. And you can brag about having gone here it to all your friends!

We went there for lunch. After some waiting we we sat at the ground flour. We started with some tempura hwich was good. Then we both had the Nabe Yaki Udon which was delicious. It was a nice experience.
