We thought this place was just ok. The steak was world class, but the service was just fine, the chef was ok, and the wine was not good.

“Great experience”
Fantastic dinner. Two choices of set menu to choose from … we did the ¥15,400 (AUD$154) menu. Food was cooked in front of you Teppanyaki style. It was all fresh, beautiful flavours and well presented. Staff were very attentive. Nice atmosphere. Appreciated the dessert plates and designed for my... husbands birthday.

“Best meal I have ever had”
We arrived about 30 minutes after opening and we were immediately helped to a table. We went with the tsubaki set and the food was incredible. The price is more than fair for the quality they provide. the chef cooked everything perfectly. The service was top notch as well. I highly recommend you sto...p by, if we come back to Kyoto we will be dining here again!

“An excellent meal overall - worth it.”
MY friend and I went here without reservations, and it was a busy Saturday night, but they managed to accommodate us with only a 30 minutes wait. We waited at a nearby bar (Bar Jigen) with a few Japanese single malts :-) and walked back over. The meal itself was a multi-course affair and was excelle...nt. We went for the Yonezawa beef option, and it was fantastic. Hanasato may be pricier than some of the equivalent places, but it is well worth it.

“Solo diners don't bother”
I went here after hearing that it's solo diner friendly place to have some good wagyu. But when I showed up at dinner time and said I was alone, I was metaphorically laughed out of the building by the server.
