“Must try experience in Osaka”
We didn't expect the experience we got. As recommendation of our hotel, we visited Tempura Obata. Owner was very friendly and made delicious food. Whilst making, he made small talk and made us feel welcome. Other japanese people joined in on the conversation, and we had a very pleasant time. 5/5 sta...rs, must try for everyone who would like to experience japanese food.

“Must Visit”
My friends and I visited Issei’s restaurant as a group of 6. Our friends were recommended the special travelers (foreigners) set. My friends could not speak more highly of their meal. my Partner and I had the vegetarian options as non-seafood eaters. I have never been more impressed with a vegetaria...n meal! The flavors were so delicious. Despite how full we were ordered extras of the lotus root tempura. The venue is intimate and enjoyed Issei’s hospitality while being entertained by him cooking our meal. I could not recommend this restaurant more highly. An absolute standout meal on our 1 month long trip to Japan. Special shout out for the delicious homemade kelp salt!

“Exceptional!”
The food at Obata was exceptional! Delicious light batter on the tempura, and a fantastic range of choices. I would really recommend if you want an authentic Japanese experience! The chef speaks English and is extremely helpful and kind. Thank you Issei-san!

“Real Japanese Tempura Experience”
We met chef Issei-san by chance in the morning on the streets of Osaka, and he invited us to attend his Tempura restaurant. We could have never expected the culinary delight and heart-warming experience that was to follow. Issei-san is an incredible host who's passion for his craft is contagious. Do... not miss the chance to attend Obata for the evening.

“Best tempura I've ever had”
This place is the best culinary experience I've had in Japan, the politeness of Issei (the Chef) was incredible and his decades of experience shows in not only his preparation of food but the execution of it too, I will certainly becoming back the next time I'm in town, I would bring, friends, famil...y and business colleagues to Tempura Shunrakuan Obata
