“Amazing steak house restaurant, with prices similar to what you might pay in London BUT with top quality Wagyu beef!!”
We are huge fans of Teppanyaki Japanese BBQ / steak house) - especially with Wagyu beef and the reviews we read on ‘Plancha Ken’ seemed very positive and just what we were looking for!! I am wheelchair bound these days so after confirming by phone that the restaurant is wheelchair friendly, we heade...d there for our booking! We could not have received a more friendly and positive welcome and after making our ‘menu’ choices, settled in to watch some very skillful use of the Teppan by Ken (the proprietor and ex large hotel chef) and his talented and reasonably good English speaking Sous Chef, Motoki. During the cooking / preparation we joked (even with broken English) at the lack of ‘bull dust’ and theatre, often presented by ‘the school of the flying knives’ but despite the lack of ‘a show’ the net result was some absolutely amazing food cooked to perfection by two talented and passionate chefs!! In fact the food was so amazing (in our opinion!) that we booked for a second occasion 3 nights later and even with slightly different menu choices were as thrilled this time as the first!! Give Ken and his staff a try, they are amazing, caring and passionate people and you will not be at all disappointed with the quality of their offering - in our opinion; truly amazing!!!

“Fantastic Dinner Experience ”
What an amazing restaurant! Small and cozy and very welcoming. Nice selection of wine and several set courses on the menu to choose from. We sat at the "bar" table which overlooked the kitchen and watched every step of cooking. The staff explained everything they made and we had lots of comments... and jokes. The presentation of every course was impeccable and then the flavors and tastes of everything were absolutely delicious. A must experience if you are in Kyoto.

“Delicious teppanyaki”
My friends and I ate here, a teppanyaki place tucked away in an alley in the Gion neighborhood of Kyoto, at the recommendation of someone who knows their way around food in Japan. It did not disappoint. Wagyu steak, lobster, fish and side dishes were all delicious, and the service was great too. We ...had a group of six and made reservations about five days ahead of time through the website, which was tricky because it’s in Japanese, but I would recommend doing so by phone if you can. Definitely check this place out if you’re in the area and in for a slightly pricier meal (prix fixe meals range from about 8,500 to 12,500 yen).

“Good for celebration”
Staffs are funny and nice. Food is tasty and the price is reasonable. The wagyu steak is very juicy, Lobster is fresh. You can request a special arrangement if a birthday or anniversary. The restaurant is located in the back alley that not easy to find. I had a good experience there and I will come ...back again when I visit Kyoto next time.
