Nikomishokudoh Kimura

NikomiShokudo Kimura is an absolute hidden gem in Kyoto and easily one of the best dining experiences we’ve had in the city. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, the service is exceptional, and every dish feels carefully crafted with real passion and skill. Easy 1 min walk from Saiin station. The ...chef is incredibly talented, and after hearing he has more than 20+ years of experience cooking French cuisine, it all made perfect sense. The food beautifully combines Japanese ingredients with refined French techniques, creating dishes that are both comforting and memorable. The clams in white wine sauce with garlic bread were outstanding and packed with flavour. The beef tendon stew was rich, tender, and deeply satisfying. The firefly squid pasta was unique and perfectly balanced, while the potatoes with anchovy were simple yet absolutely addictive. And loved the fried rice with crab and leek. They also have a wonderful beverage selection including wine, sake, shochu, and more, which pairs perfectly with the food and adds even more to the overall experience. For the quality of the cooking, service, and atmosphere, this restaurant is an incredible value and serves some of the best food in Kyoto. I highly recommend visiting NikomiShokudo Kimura if you are in Kyoto. It’s the kind of hidden gem you feel lucky to discover.
