“Excellent Food”
“Hidden Gem”
We almost missed the entrance because it wasn't well sign posted and was next to another restaurant which had a crowd milling around in front of it. We saw a passage way and were curious as to where it led. We discovered a delightful restaurant on level 3. There were too many choices so we tried ...a range of dishes and were highly impressed with the presentation, flavours and service. We couldn't fault it and had a most enjoyable evening. We would highly recommend it!!

“One of the best in pontocho.”
Fantastisk food, to reasonable prices. Some of the dishes definetely qualify for Michelin stars. Very friendly atmosphere, rather laid back and good wines. Strongly recommended.

“Good Meal, Great Service and Fun Dinner at Eau de Vie Kyoto”
My wife and I found this place on Google maps - just doing a search of the area for restaurants. The (older) Tripadvisor reviews were good, so we went for it and we loved it. It's a small venue, a bit rustic or not quite as snazzy/slick as the website photo makes it look, but that was part of the ...charm as it was still nice and comfortable. It's run by a two-person (couple?) team, with the woman doing all the customer service functions and the man all of the cooking and drink making. Very good food. Very good service. We went back a second time as we couldn't get in to the two other places we'd chosen that night and were starting to get hangry trying to pick a new place....and we loved it again. It's a little hard to find as it's up one of the small side entrances of the main Pontocho Alley, then up the small elevator to the 3rd floor, which opens up into the restaurant. But it's worth the uncertainty of "are we going to right way?" as the reward is an enjoyable meal with very nice proprietors. We recommend a visit and hope they get more business.

“Best Japanese steak ever!!!”
Quaint little French/Japanese restaurant. Ordered the Japanese steak which was tender and delicious paired with sauces. Highly recommend! Staff are very sweet. Hot sake was also great.
