“Save room for dessert!”
Don't miss out on the best Italian food in Japan! We loved dining here so much we had lunch 2 days in a row. The vegetarian asparagus risotto was unbelievable! It was better than in Rome. I will be thinking about it for years to come. The lasagna was like your grandmother cooked it. The tiramisu and... strawberry tart were to die for... Save room for dessert! The whole restaurant staff, Andrea (owner/chef), Tora, Zahra & John were welcoming, kind and fun to chat with. The restaurant is beautifully decorated making you think you're on dinning in Italian country side. Please make time to eat here while in Kyoto! Thank you for wonderful memories and unforgettable food!

“Pretentious and disappointing”
Looked to be an interesting place to eat. Long intro from the well versed waitress about the quality of the ingredients. Couldn’t buy a bottle of house wine so 11000 a glass. Opted for the seafood platter to share as a starter and then see how our appetites were after that. Enjoyed the amuse bouche ...selection. Tasty but not worth the cost. Sushi in another form! Voiced my disappointment to the host that the prawns weren’t cleaned. Was told “we don’t do that in Japan” !! Needless to say we didn’t order anything else.

“Middling”
Went here as recommended from guide. It was meh. Do not expect european quality. Have had much better lasagna in the states that was *frozen*. So if desperate for non-Japanese flavor, it’s okay, but curb your expectations. Not great.

“Title: Incredible Risotto and the Best Bread in Kyoto”
I recently had dinner at Stars’n Cacio in Kyoto with my family, and it was outstanding from start to finish. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between cozy and elegant — ideal for a relaxed evening out. The highlight was definitely the risotto — creamy, rich, and perfectly seasoned. You can t...ell it’s made with care and top-quality ingredients. Their freshly baked bread was another surprise — warm, crisp on the outside, and soft inside, served with olive oil that complemented it beautifully. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the overall experience felt genuinely warm and welcoming. Whether you’re a local or traveling through Kyoto, Stars’n Cacio is a must-visit for anyone who loves authentic, well-crafted Italian food.

“Welcoming Italian enclave”
Tuscany transported to the heart of Kyoto’s shopping district - an outside terrace with very friendly staff, excellent food and relaxed atmosphere. Well worth a visit.
