Matsuki Sushi

We had a great sushi lunch here. We are experienced sushi lovers so we weren’t phased by the fact that you can’t pick your fish choices but it’s all chef choice - all the cuts were great but the tuna was truly outstanding. Crab miso soup, dessert and tempura were also top notch. Staff is friendly, t...he place is clean and quiet, and mostly locals eat here. Would come back!

We had a reservation at their sister place (Matsuki-Ushi - meat) but the Ushi restaurant "lost" our reservation and asked us to leave. (Must say we were extremely disappointed in our treatment there. They sat us down, and then asked us to leave. Clearly overwhelmed by the number of tourists). We ...were sent to this sushi place which was quite good. We were a bit angry about the other situation, and looking forward to meat, so probably didn't have the best experience. But, speaking objectively, the sushi was very good and worth trying if that's what you want to eat.

This is a quality looking restaurant with a main sushi-bar and some tables on the side. The choices are from set menus all based around fish sushi with some Hida- Beef additions. All food is prepared by a Father and Son based team right in front of you, and it is all very pleasant and exciting to be... there. This was top-notch sushi and the wife and I wolfed it all down, as it was so delicious. The bill came to £70 with a cocktail and a few beers thrown in. I suggest this was good value considering the quality of the food. I would happily go again.

We came here based on the reviews score and expected to have a great experience . Our mistake was not reading the low score reviews . They offer a set menu which we never go for , we prefer to choose our sushi . Since there was no other choice we went for it . It seems that they offer the set menu a...nd no individual options only for tourists . This is unacceptable . The tempura was good . The yellow tail , snapper , octopus and minced tuna sushi were low quality , it was hard to chew , lots of residuals left . I never ever had sushi this low quality . The beef was extremely fat and hard to chew . We had great experiences in Tokyo and expected the same here . What a major disappointed. It seems that they do this to tourists because they are not returning customers . If I were the chef I would have been embarrassed to serve such a low quality meal . After our dinner I looked at the negative reviews and the answer from the manager is always the same, it is a template he is using . This tells you they do not really care . My advice , stay away from this place , go someplace else .
