Matsuki Sushi

I visited yesterday 24/06/25. We had visited the sister restaurant but were unable to get a table. The server kindly called the Restuarant and asked if they had availability (above and beyond service) luckily they did. Arrived and were seated at the counter we ordered shashimi and sushi with miso an...d a good bottle of Japanese white wine. The food was amazing and the service friendly and attentive. An excellent experience and highly recommended.

Great sushi place with a delightful staff. We sat at the bar and were entertained by the very outgoing sushi chef. Seems popular with the locals. We thought there was only a small dining area but note that is also an upstairs dining room. Can’t go wrong here.

I had a great meal at this restaurant, my husband and I shared a mix of sushi and tempura which were all delicious. I am confused by reviews stating that they had no option but to order off the set menu. We did not want the set menu, so we asked for the a la carte menu and the waitress happily provi...ded it and we ordered what we wanted. Didn't pay anything like some of the prices quoted! There was a lovely atmosphere with plenty of locals, we had a really nice evening.

Omg very fresh, we ordered 2- Kaisen seafood course and Daimyo sushi for three of us There was so much food. We took half of the Daimyo rolls back to the hotel

The smell of griddled beef as we walked past convinced us we wanted to eat here. Alas it was full but we asked if we could come back in an hour and they said yes (although they speak a little English it was not enough for them to offer this). Boy are we glad! There was a choice of different cuts of ...Hida beef & different meal options. I went for the salad, rice & sirloin option & my husband the same but with added sushi. We sat at the counter watching the cooking as it was a work of culinary excellence! The beef was exceptional - the flavour & juiciness just yummy! Cooked on a griddle over coals. The little salad with grated Japanese radish a perfect accompaniment. The restaurant itself is rather basic, none of the frills we expect from quality establishments. The staff were very friendly & the sushi chef a bit of a character. We also both had a glass of wine which knocked the price up but it was worth it! Didn’t use the toilet so can’t comment but not had a bad experience yet! I would recommend if you are a beef lover to try this place. But go early or book!
