“Delicious Soba with Friendly Staff”

We did not deliberately choose this restaurant but found it while looking for lunch. We loved the food and service. Their soba was perfectly cooked and shoyu was delicious. Service was very friendly with English menu and English speaking staff.

Delicious noodles. Very helpful staffs who help to fulfill our orders. We request to have a quail egg for the traditional soba noodles which is not inside the menu. Their curry ramen is yummy too.

Loved this food! Delicious, and quite unique to local area. Also came with cute manga about how to eat the noodles.

“A gem for vegetarians!”

Given that this city is infamous for its Hida beef, we found it hard to find a truly vegetarian place. Even vegetarian ramen in Japan is made mostly in pork broth and includes bits of imitation crab and fish flakes. So the fact that they served real vegetarian food with traditional soba noodles that... my wife absolutely enjoyed (they have seperate vegetarian and vegan menus!) really impressed me. It was a bonus that this place was built in the 1890s and maintained its tradition of sitting on the floor. Our three month old baby slept on a cushion while we ate away. It was a relief to see many other babies and children because some restaurants didn't allow babies. Personally, I had their chicken curry udon which wasn't the best I've had but still quite delicious. All in all, we highly recommend this place!
