KEIYA

We were the only foreigners in the restaurant, and the only diners who spoke English - but this ended up being one of our BEST nights in Japan. First of all, the food was delicious. Lots of small sharing plates to try - delicious seared beef, fresh tuna rolls, tempura that they make while you watc...h. Everything we tried was delicious. And everyone was soo friendly and welcoming. Other diners were so happy to see English people in the restaurant that they all wanted to talk to us. One ever sent us over some sake and a local dish he wanted us to try. And I even got an impromptu lesson from another diner on how to use chopsticks properly (apparently I've been doing it wrong all these years). It's an open concept restaurant that gives you full view of the chef cooking before your eyes all night, which was fun. And one of the servers spoke English and she was soo helpful explaining dishes for us and helping us choose what she thought we'd enjoy. A great choice for a meal in Nagano.
