“So Very Japanese”
Very typical place with Japanese cuisine, enjoyed by locals. Worth visiting if you want to get off the beaten tourist track

“Just terrible!”
If you think you can't possibly have bad sushi in Tokyo, you are wrong. This izakaya is the worst place we ate during our 10-day trip. As the places we wanted to go in Shinjuku-san-chome area were packed, we decided to give this place a try. Since it looked fairly busy we thought it can't be that ba...d. Overall impression of this place was that it was a little dirty – but we didn't mind the grittiness of the restaurant as it was supposed to be part of the experience. For a place that specialises in fresh seafood, we thought it was really is not up to standard. I ordered a fatty tuna sushi rice bowl. First of all, the tuna chunks looked like they were cut with a blunt knife. Second, the fish was – put bluntly – not fresh. (I’ve had better sushi bowls in Singapore). My husband ordered some calamari and fried chicken, they too looked equally miserable. We didn't expect great food but we certainly didn't expect such poor standards. Moreover, it was too expensive for what it's worth. Perhaps in hindsight, we would have been better off ordering the seafood on grills.
