“A very impressive Kaiseki meal in Kanazawa!”

Restaurant is a 10mins drive from Kanazawa station. Arrived and was greeted by 2 staff at the entrance; in traditional attire and so heartwarming. Stepped into Tsubajin; this place is so charming and filled with Japanese culture. Was told this building been around since 1752 and we had our lunch in... the Spring room; which comes with a scenic view. We ordered the Kaiseki lunch and cost about JPY 27,500. The pictures will tell a thousand words; they are so pretty, fresh and so delicious! Very memorabe and 5-Star rating!

“Kanazawa’s finest”

For us, Tsubajin sits atop the pinnacle of Japanese dining experiences in Kanazawa. The building has been immaculately maintained throughout its 270 years and exudes Japanese style at every turn. There is a refined ‘warmth’ in traditional Japanese architecture with its tones and textures. Tsubaji...n ticks all these boxes. The scent of incense drifted down the tatami hallway as we were led to our private dining room overlooking the Sai River at night. We were amazed to find ourselves in what felt like our own Japanese home with absolute privacy. Our Kaiseki meal consisted of 10 courses, each one an artistic masterpiece. Our standout was the 3rd course (Soup - Tilefish with lotus root dumpling), which was exceptional! With the assistance of Tsubajin, we had arranged entertainment for the evening with 2 Kanazawa Geigi. The combination of exceptional Kanazawa cuisine and the privilege of being entertained by Geigi was a ‘once in a lifetime experience.’ Of all the reviews I have made on Trip Advisor, this is our number 1. Thankyou Tsubajin for leaving us with such a wonderful memory!

“Experienced the out of the norm!”

Hi peeps, I think you would probably think that all the restaurant we dine in are gastronomically Creative like adding artisanal ingredients like A5 marbling of matsusaka beef or even a beluga caviar. No. This is not the case this time. In this restaurant, they take the everyday (well almost) used ...ingredients and make them shine. I guess, to us this is something worth the visit and to pay. Let me stressed on pay, this restaurant accepts VISA/MASTER which I can’t find them stating in their website and I had to call to make sure as you know, some restaurants in Japan still accepts only cash and no card payment accepted. We had the premium course which cost us 30kYEN per person and it is worth it. We were given a room to ourselves (pls book ahead of time to avoid any disappointment) and it starts with a simple tea.. then comes the rest as you can see in the picture I have taken of the menu. Pls note the menu might change from time to time. For every dish, there is supposed to be explained by the server, however, we were left guessing as language is the barrier. We decided to just guess and taste on our own. One thing to note, during the snow crab dish, there is a small bowl with citrusy smell, THATS FOR YOU TO WASH YOUR FINGERS. NOT TO BE EATEN. I know I almost did, hahahah. One dish that comes to my attention was the duck stew. It’s made out of Kanazawa tradition ingredients. The duck meat was tender, does not have the duck smell which a lot of people do not like, fragrant stew soup which compliments the rest of the vegetable ingredients. Enough said, go and dine here if you are planning to have some evening having a luxury meal to pamper yourself after a long day of sightseeing. Oh, we parked our car behind the museum which is next to the river and walk up the stairs to reach the restaurant. It’s about 10mins walk in total. Enjoy! Idatakimas..!!
