I have only visited a few times because I am an infrequent visitor to Niigata, but I always make a point of visiting. Getting a table outside in the early evening with a bottle of wine is a joy, but the interior is very stylish and the staff very friendly. They even remembered us a whole year betwee...n our first and second visit.

As a group of five with varying palate, it was rare for us to give an unanimous thumbs up to a restaurant. Relaxed ambience and spacious. Fabulous food: colourful salad with local greens came precisely as requested with dressing on the side, and cream cheese pate whet our appetite. Our Rossin...i was cooked to perfection with local beef. Roasted beef and beef tongue were delicious. The Bismarck pizza was simply the best: value ($10!) and taste wise. Oyster pasta was slightly disappointing: fresh yet the sauce was salty. Waiter was attentive and effective with English. Fair selection of wine. The juniors had alcohol free beer! We bought our own and opened without corkage charged. A great deal overall.

Returned recently for dinner while on a leisure trip and discovered that service and food quality have slipped a bit. For around the same price, you'll notice that vs 1-2 years ago, the portions have gotten smaller, service levels have fallen (in particular the staff don't know the menus and requ...ired several reminders to bring drinks and food that had been ordered). It's not as great a value as it once was. Not bad, but much more average than before.

Very nice staff. We were in a private room for dinner. Food was very good. Oysters were huge! Price vs. quality was fair. I do recommend this place.

We held a drinking party at this restaurant. We were packed like sardines in a small party room. Once we took seats, we had difficulties going to the rest room. It would be better for a couple or a small group to use this restaurant.
