Hatchoya Kanazawaekimaeten

This was the first place I have been in over a week in Japan that was loud and ruckus. Such a surprise after constantly whispering every where we went. There were a lot of people on a Sunday night having a lot of fun and drinking a lot. I tried to catch up as quickly as I could. The one problem is t...hat they allow vaping so there is smoke in the air. This place offers a lot of small dishes. We had the sashimi. I can see why Kanazawa is know for its seafood. It was very good. Also had the chicken sticks, which were good. The best part was the 20 item salad. We have not had a salad and vegetable for over a week. The lettuce was excellent as were the squash, beans, broccoli and cabbage. The dressing was excellent. Be aware that you need to press the button to get service. We waited for a long time without anyone taking our order until we saw the people next to us much a button and the waiter instantly appeared. The total bill with a glass of sake and 2 beers was $80.Definitely a place worth going to and we would come back. The staff has a minimal grasp of English so you have to point.

Our tour guide recommended this chain restaurant as a good introduction to the local food and she was spot on. At first glance, the menu seemed to offer little that suited our tastes but we soon found that there was a lot that was new to us and we were delighted to try it and find that is was delici...ous. The yellowtail shabu shabu was a revelation as was the noto beef. The more we tried from the menu, the more we liked it. There was an excellent range of sake to try too, the tasting set for 1500 yen was excellent value and a great way to explore the many local varieties. I would highly recommend it; excellent value for food/drink of this quality.

Popped here as it was close to our hotel and had some good reviews. It did not disappoint. We didn't have a reservation, but were immediately seated. The tables are positioned close to the floor with a hollow underneath, so you sit on cushions on tatami mats, with plenty of legroom under the table. ...Each table has a buzzer to attract the waiter / waitress, and you just order food and drink as and when you please. The service was spot on, very prompt and helpful, and the food was also great. The atmosphere was good, as it was busy. Great for the experience as well as the food - would definitely go back.

We did not have a reservation but were able to snag two seats at the sushi counter. The menu has pictures and a menu with both English and Japanese is available, making it easy to order. The sushi was pristine; we especially enjoyed the grilled sablefish and the pressed sushi with salmon and salmo...n roe. We ordered tempura also but it never arrived which was okay as we were full and we were not charged for it. The restaurant is about a block from the train station and close to several hotels, including the Hotel Nikko

Good service, fresh and delicious set dinner. Good selection of Sake from Ishikawa- superb. Hotel standard presentation of food, dish by dish. Japanese style comfortable seatings and perfect ambient. Tables are with private dividers provide a quiet dining. Perfect and lovely place for family, couple...s or business dining. We will come back again the next time when we come to Kanazawa.
