“Warm atmosphere and excellent food”
We had our New Year's Day brunch at Shiki no Table in Kanazawa and were very pleased with the food, atmosphere and service. This is a small family run restaurant with a very comfortable and cozy atmosphere. The owner and hosts were also quite gracious. We had their New Year's Day set and it was ex...cellent. The New Year's meal is a special experience in Japan with dishes prepared specifically for this day. However, there are few restaurants open as this is a traditional holiday period. Shiki no Table no only opened its doors on this day, but offered an excellent traditional meal which brightened our start to the year.

“Peaceful restaurant”
The restaurant in the Naga-Machine Buke Yaskidi the Samourai quarter is a little gem for lunch. It is in a quiet area also a cookery school on the 1st floor and the chicken jibuni ,a local speciality! was delicious.

“WOULDN'T BOTHER”
we have just eaten at shiki-no-table after the recommendation in the rough guide book. the food was so-so. we had the set menu with the jibuni chicken although we didn't have the included dessert as the waiter advised us that the restaurant was closing. in fact he informed us of this part way thr...ough our main to hurry us along, not that we are particularly slow eaters. having eaten in a variety of places in japan so far on our trip, the food here was below average and the service was the worst that we've experienced.
