“Fab location and excellent food”

We were staying at the hotel this restaurant is in so we decided to try it. The sky bar adjacent is great for pre dinner drinks the head barman was perfection to watch as he mixed cocktails ultra professional, word of warning to non smokers this is a smoking bar so if you don’t want to be in that en...vironment there is another bar on lower floors of hotel. The meal itself was a choice of varying set menus with a good variation between them we picked two different set meals and whilst some of the courses were the same the main meal was cooked in front of you on the the grill. It was amazing to watch the chef at work It’s not a showy teppanyaki just a very peaceful and professional preparation of the meal no tossing of food and throwing of utensils. It’s not the cheapest of meals but it was a great experience and just what we were looking for at the time.

“Very poor value for money”

OK there’s a nice view from the 19th floor (although the lifts are a bit unpredictable) but the set up with six around one grill is rather industrial and the set menus offer very poor value for money. The chef seemed pretty disinterested in his work and the food was OK but not the quality you would ...expect for the price, and not enough of it. Overall a very disappointing and rather expensive experience.

“Excellent dinner, best meat in a long time!”

We were staying at the Crowne Plaza and were too tired for experiments and after days of (raw) fish, we just wanted a really good steak. And we got what we wanted and even more! The young and obviously talented chef prepared our dinner right at our table. My husband and I both chose the Noto menu, h...e the one with an additional fish course as appetiter. The appetiters were delicious, the salads had an excellent fruity dressing and my husband's fish (prepared at our table) was so fresh and well prepared he almost fainted :) The Noto beef we both got was certainly in the top five of the best meat/beef we ever had in our entire lives (and we're in our mid-fourties and passionate foodies)!! After the beef paradise (accompanied by some veggies and fantastic garlic crisps), we got rice and Miso Soup and eventually a scoop of strawberry sorbet as dessert. The portions (salads, veggies, rice, Miso soup etc) were rather small, but we find this everywhere in Japan so far. And we know that that meat is expensive, folks! Although we paid 8 bucks for a glass of beer, we didn't mind because the chef offered such a fabulous show at our table, the view from the roof top was amazing and the food - especially the Noto beef category A4 - was just DELICIOUS and worth everything. My my will we never forget this dinner!

“Your money can be better spent elsewhere”

The meal was okay not exceptionally good nor bad. Overall it was the little things that made the visit disappointing. I would've expected teppanyaki to be a more "special" experience with the chef showing off his cooking skills and interacting with guests. I'm not asking for the knife flipping sho...w they did in overseas teppanyaki restaurants 20 years ago but at least make an attempt (understanding the language barrier). But our chef seemed more interested in getting the job done and finishing up. Also most upscale teppanyaki places would include fried rice with the set but not here. The appetiser was a very plain salad and dessert was only slightly better with a small scoop of raspberry ice-cream and 2 very small pieces of fruit (albeit very nice fruit). Spending 15-20k yen per person for a teppanyaki course at any decent hotel is a reasonable price but not for the dining experience they offered at the Crowne Plaza.

Here we had the best food in Japan until now! A great location with a beautiful view over the city. Very friendly and professional service. The menus are expensive but for still normal priced to Japanese standards for this quality meat. The wine list was not long but of good quality.
