“A sample of Kanazawa's finest!”
It's rare that I write a TripAdvisor review, but this place was just so great, and the reviews in English so few, that it demanded one. The sashimi was as good as any other I had in Kanazawa, but what really made this place stand out was the variety. In addition to that, we had the beef tendon, aged...ashi tofu, vingared octopus, and meat stew (I'm blanking on the name, but it was right below the beef tendon on the menu). All were excellent, particularly the beef tendon and tofu. In addition to that, there was a nice sake/beer/liquor list, all at a very reasonable price. We came away eating one of our best meals in Japan for USD $25/person. Highly recommend! Note that it's a bit hard to find the location. “"Best meal and ambiance in Japan"”
We asked our concierge at the Hotel Nikko to recommend a nice small local pub type restaurant and she sent us here --- a fantastic choice. I had the best Maguro I have had in Japan (and I have had a lot). We were the only westerners, and no one spoke english, but everyone tried to help interpret our... needs and wants. One of our party wanted beef and almost ordered it until be understood it was beef tongue. The dry sake was some of the best this trip. we ordered a variety of food, knew what most of it was, and enjoyed it all. Surely the best dinner we had in our 3 weeks trip around Japan. I highly recommend it.
