Yokohama Station Restaurant Guide
Yokohama station is packed with and surrounded by restaurants serving up some of the finest, most flavorsome food in Japan. It is the 5th busiest station in the world, with around 76 million people passing through its gates every year, and where there are people, there is food! The station is filled with quick-eat restaurants designed to fill you up and send you on your way, whether that be with a bowl of beef and rice (gyudon), or a local favorite, curry doughnuts! Leave the station and you are surrounded by shopping centers with a diverse array of restaurants. Whether you want to tuck into sizzling beef hotpot (gyunabe), or try out some conveyer belt sushi (kaiten sushi), you will likely be in close walking distance.
A short train ride from Yokohama station will see you in the famous Chinatown, a large food district full of steamed buns (nikuman and shoronpo), dumplings (gyoza) and the popular street food, goma dango. A short journey in the other direction to Shin-Yokohama will land you in a food amusement park, where there is more ramen than you could shake a chopstick at, in an environment resembling post-war Japan.
