Went searching for this place on a cold wet night...nothing...found out the next day that it had burnt down 3 months ago. Found a place only one block away which was very similar...maybe called Akita Dining...had a snow cave at the entrance and I think maybe it was replacing the one we were looking ...for. Either way it was so good we went back twice, not much english spoken but we managed thanks to the helpful staff..lively atmosphere great food. The cover charge gave you a beautiful little stew to start the meal...fantastic.

“Keep your head down.”
Be careful at entrance could be a hit again. Food is great and you can find local sake other alcohol was a boring. Price is are not high but food quality is amazing. I'd like to visit again.

“Great atmosphere - met with a Namahage”
A great place for dinner. Beautifully decorated. Nice local sake and good local food. We even met with the Namahage "in residence", the scary ogre from Akita who went from table to table to greet the guests. There was not much English spoken and no English menu, but we somehow got along and ordered ...a broth with Kiritanpo (pounded rice on sticks, a local speciality) As we arrived for dinner on Christmas day we were even gifted two wooden sake cups. All in all, a happy experience.

No English menu. So I sort of rely on trying to figure out the jap menu, and ask for recommendation. Quite nice, for the environment, the friendly staffs and food. Asked for recommendation for sake and surprise surprise, one cup of intentionally overflowed drink to give the bright red coloring (refe...r to photo). Very smooth sake. Overall ok.
