“Fun Time, Good Meal”

This was a fun way to spend an hour or so with a good meal at the end. Making okonomiyaki was a lot of fun and Anumji was friendly and patient. It was a bit hard to find as you have to exit the train station and go down a level but the signage was good when I got near.

“Stamina Ramen”

Found this place by accident wandering the streets for some dinner. Pay at the ticket machines to the left as you walk in then sit down to enjoy your choice. I had ramen which was very good. My friend also got gyoza which he said was the best he had ever eaten.

Good, authentic ramen. Very busy a lunch-times and weekends. Try going mid-afternoon for immediate service.

“Another classic. Don't miss it. ”

The famous Onomichi ramen. Delicious. One must keep in mind though that the layer of hot oil does not cool down as fast as water/broth. Slurping properly, having plenty of cool air aerating the noodle and broth, becomes essential. It also enhances the flavour and upgrades the whole ramen experience....

“great for a rainy night”

I came here twice, the second time with my wife after viewing cherry blossom in the rain. Onomichi ramen is soy sauce based but with lots of pork and chicken fat. It's a comforting, warming food. This store is a sister shop to the original Iccho in Onomichi, and it's delicious and well-known. The di...ning area is a counter going around the kitchen with about 30 seats, which are usually occupied. You might have to wait in line to get in. I heard a man's daughter complaining to him, "but the ramen shop over there doesn't have a line. Why don't we go there?" The dad was adamant that it had to be Onomichi Iccho. The broth is warming and delicious, the chashu are also nice and tender. I enjoyed their fried chicken as well. The ramen here seems pretty normal to me, except for the huge amount of fat at the top. Keep in mind that if you drink the broth down, you will need to find a bathroom in about an hour because that fat will make it slip right through you. Take it easy!
