“Very local excellent place!”
We arrived in Hiroshima today and were looking for authentic Okonomiyaki. So many to choose from but opted for this little place. We were ushered to seats by the grill and watched the 2 chefs cooking! We choose 2 different Okonomiyaki and both were brilliant! Would thoroughly recommend - we were the... only tourist! Very local!

“Fantastic Onomakiyaki”
First time trying okonomyaki and it was very very good. So good I went back on my second night. You sit at the area where the food is all being cooked right in front on you. Thoroughly enjoyable experience.

“Okanomoyaki to die for”
Went this evening with my son and daughter, the fried cheese with egg plant and tomato was amazing, followed by 2 okinomoyaki, whole roasted garlic then pancake and ice cream. Very friendly staff, English menu available, very reasonable price. Highly recommend it.

“Last minute surprise ”
While staying in Hiroshima we had searched to find the best places to get Hiroshima-style Okonomiyaki. When the one we chose was surprisingly closed, we were at a loss where to go. Then we stumbled past Kuraya. The place had a great vibe, cool layout and settings, and great music. We picked a mix of... things from the menu and shared, sitting right at the cooking surface. The food was fantastic, the service was quick and friendly, and everything was done with a great flair. A pleasant surprise to be sure.

“Bit of a disappointment”
Kuraya was just across from the hotel my wife and I stayed at, and since Hiroshima okonomiyaki is well-known, we thought we would give it a try. The restaurant was very busy (perhaps due to the Flower Festival) and we had to wait some time for seats at the counter. We tried a number of dishes and fo...und most to be average or below. The best dish was beef tongue. Spinach with uni (sea urchin) seems to be on a number of menus in Hiroshima. The spinach was good, as was the uni, but better eaten separately. And the okinomiyaki ? Let's just say my wife and I didn't try it again anywhere else and won't again. The selection is large though so maybe it was the one we chose.
