“Not welcoming to non-Japanese customers”
We arrived around 12:00, even though the restaurant opens at 11:30. We asked if there was a table available and were told there was no availability at the moment, and that we were not allowed to wait for a table either. What felt strange was how immediate and unexplained the refusal was. It made us ...feel uncomfortable. We speak some Japanese, so it did not seem to be a language issue. The overall impression was that we were not welcome. Experiences like this can create a negative impression for visitors and foreigners, which is unfortunate given Japan’s generally welcoming image.
