I went to "Senzan" Kounanndai Honten (Branch Head) yesterday for lunch on Nov. 22 2012. The hallway of the restaurant looks gorgeous as the Japanese typical and traditional "Kaiseki" style (high class) restaurant if you glance. It has parking space up to 30 cars but you need to walk a bit for a diff...erent extra parking area if you don't park it just in adjacent to the restaurant entrance or a main. Only several among 30 cars can park in the main area (Kounanndai Branch Head). When you enter the restaurant, the waiters/waitresses with Japanese traditional robe "Kimono" are welcoming you. All of the seats are non smoking. You need to take off your shoes to relax yourself in a Japanese style. But don't worry about the Japanese traditional sitting called "Seiza", because the table is not "Tatami" (Japanese style flat floor) but dug, so you can release your legs down to be comfortable. Fresh Japanese raw fish called "Sashimi", crab meats or "Templa" (deep fried fish/crab/shrimp/veges with floured) can be eaten. Set menus are recommended. Lunch set menus are more reasonable than those for dinner. But be careful lunch set are out of service on Saturdays/Sundays and the Japanese national holidays. Unfortunately English is not spoken but you can select your favorite via pictures on a menu. I've never seen the foreign guests before but as a Japanese myself, I'd like to have lunch/dinner for my foreign friends if they come to Japan once. You'd deserve to enjoy the Japanese foods there! Pros: You can enjoy Fresh Japanese cuisines with Japanese high class "Kaiseki" style. Cons: Only Japanese language is available.
