This was our best meal in Kyoto. The food and service was exceptional. Took about two hours. We had the pork, pork belly and beef set. Don’t be put off by the dead flying fish in the broth bowl that you will see in the covered bowl at your table if you lift the lid. It is used to flavor the broth ...but is removed before the broth is heated. I’m not a seafood person (other than sushi) so I was worried everything was going to taste fishy but it didn’t taste in the least bit fishy. This shabu shabu was way better than any I have had before and also better than any sukiyaki I’ve had. The meal included an appetizer, shabu shabu, a bowl of noodles after the shabu shabu and a bowl of ice cream at the end. Highly recommended!

I would not recommend this place as I felt we were treated differently from the locals at the table next to us. I still cannot believe it took 45 minutes for us to get our food, which consists of UNCOOKED beef and vegetables despite a reservation. The table next to us had no issue getting the se...rver’s attention or food in a timely matter. We didn’t even get the customary towels to clean our hands and had to ask for water, which took 15 minutes to even get. We did not get any cucumbers or fish that the other tables seemed to get as complimentary appetizers. There was also a separate English menu that did not list everything in the regular Japanese menu. Once we got the food which consisted of a few pieces of beef and vegetables, we finished it in less than 30 minutes as we were starving by then. No one ever came by to check up on us. This place left a bad taste of Kyoto.

We were treated very nicely and everything was explained. Food was good and price was reasonable. That's all you need to know.

Great food. Great staff. Great atmosphere. Really enjoyed our visit. It’s tricky to find down a little alley. But you open the door the welcome is friendly. The food was great. The beer was cold. Best of all the staff were super friendly. Give it a try. 😃

One of the best meals we had in Kyoto. We had been to another Shabu Shabu restaurant earlier which we enjoyed very much.But it was so different from this.We realised that was more Korean influenced and had a lot of chillies. This seemed more authentic including starting of the hot pot with a flying ...fish. The staff were very attentive and the food was delicious. Highly recommended.
