“Shabu Shabu ”
This was my first experience eating shabu shabu. I had always associated shabu shabu with Japanese beef, and was somewhat apprehensive cooking raw pork. However, some of my concerns were alleviated when the owner/manager came over to our table explaining the high quality pork which is DNA certified.... The rest of my concerns were lifted as I was dining with several locals who showed me exactly how to cook the meat. (Also, a staff member came to our table to show us proper cooking methods which provided me with an excellent visual education). The amount of food we had was tremendous - plates of various types of pork, massive plates piled high with fresh, local vegetables, appetizers and lots of beer and wine. I was lucky to experience eating in this fine/upscale restaurant in a private ‘room’ while sitting on tatami mats at a traditional Japanese low table. A truly memorable experience.
